Baptist Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our dedicated team. We are a large not-for-profit healthcare organization with multiple locations across Miami-Dade, Monroe, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. About the Role
As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for performing phlebotomy tasks, ensuring accurate specimen handling, assisting with customer requests, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Performs phlebotomy in accordance with established National Patient Safety Goals and Baptist Health protocols
- Receives specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) accurately and promptly, labels, transports, centrifuges, and aliquots specimens
- Aids in customer requests for laboratory information, including sending out tests to national reference labs
- Prepares and packages specimens for transport to reference labs
- Researches new sendout requests by physicians using available resources
- Enters lab charges and CPT codes on all Lab Miscellaneous tests
- Distributes specimens to testing sections based on collection priority
- Faxes and distributes results as necessary
- Maintains knowledge and deployment of policies and procedures used within the department and throughout the hospital to address patient questions and concerns
Qualifications
- High School, GED, Trn, Exper. License and Certification: AAMA Certified Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist Certification
- Phlebotomy and computer skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment
- Preferred: Phlebotomy or medical assistant certificate, experience in hospital phlebotomy, pediatric, geriatric, oncology, and neonate patients, bilingual proficiency
- Minimum Required Experience: 2 Years
