The Opportunity
Join Flexport's People team as a Sr Payroll Associate and play a critical role in ensuring our employees are paid accurately and on time. You will be instrumental in managing North America payroll operations, with a specific focus on our hourly employee population and Canadian payroll intricacies. Working closely with our People, Finance, and external partners, you'll tackle complex payroll scenarios, drive process improvements, and contribute to a seamless employee experience. Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for Flexport's North American workforce, including both US and Canadian hourly employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee payroll compliance, including tax filings, garnishments, and statutory deductions, adhering to all federal, state, provincial, and local regulations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the People team, Finance, and external payroll vendors to resolve discrepancies and streamline payroll-related workflows.
- Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements to optimize payroll operations and enhance efficiency.
- Provide exceptional support to employees regarding payroll inquiries, ensuring clear and timely communication.
Requirements
- 5+ years of dedicated experience managing payroll operations for a growing organization.
- Proven expertise in North American payroll, with significant experience in both US and Canadian payroll processing, including hourly employee payroll.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, provincial, and local payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience with major payroll systems (e.g., Workday, ADP) and HRIS platforms.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in a high-volume environment.
- A 'compliance first' attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field.
- CPA certification preferred.
