Senior Patient Access Representative
Overview
The Senior Patient Access Representative is a full-time, second shift position at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA. This role involves registering patients for the Emergency Department and various other hospital registration areas. Additionally, the Patient Access Team Leader assists the Team Coordinator and department leadership by serving as a registration system super-user, taking on-call rotations, participating in interviews, preparing and reviewing reports, conducting quality assurance audits, mentoring and training staff, managing department supplies, and attending meetings and workgroups.
Responsibilities
- Registering patients for the Emergency Department and other hospital registration areas
- Serving as a registration system super-user
- Taking on-call rotation during the week and on weekends
- Assisting with the interviewing process
- Preparing and reviewing reports
- Conducting quality assurance audits
- Mentoring and training staff
- Managing department supply levels
- Participating in meetings and workgroups
- Maintaining written requirements and competencies to serve as a preceptor
- Providing department orientation
Requirements
- CHAA, CRCR, or CRCS certification within six months of hire
- Two years of customer service and/or data entry experience
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in lieu of two years of experience
- Proficiency in keyboarding
