About the role

The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Health care is seeking a Senior Physical Therapist to provide comprehensive care to patients with complex physical dysfunctions, disorders, and injuries. The position will primarily serve the orthopedic outpatient setting at Medical Center North Liberty.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality patient care, evaluation, assessment, and treatment for patients with complex or specialized needs.
  • Participate in the development of innovative clinical teaching activities to meet the learning needs of staff and students.
  • Perform routine and assigned administrative tasks efficiently and demonstrate innovative problem-solving approaches.
  • Provide divisional and departmental leadership by collaborating on special projects, assisting management, participating in clinical research, maintaining high levels of clinical productivity, providing educational experiences to staff and students, serving as a clinical resource, and demonstrating the ability to set and accomplish divisional/departmental goals.
  • Identify opportunities, monitor, and participate in quality/process improvement activities and recommend corrective actions for effectiveness.
  • Perform special projects and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Reasonable (2+ years) experience as a Physical Therapist with a high degree of understanding and skill in one or more areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Demonstrated clinical educational abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a work or other professional setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in Physical Therapy with advanced understanding and skill in providing physical therapy primarily to adults in an outpatient setting.
  • Ability to practice in an autonomous manner.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in provision of patient care.
  • Demonstrated efficiency in provision of patient care.
  • Demonstrated effort to enhance one’s own knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Demonstrated program/service development or quality improvement projects.
