About the role
The Senior OT Cyber Security Engineer will lead the cyber security execution for major customer projects, ensuring all requirements are met on time and within budget. They will serve as the technical authority for cybersecurity, directing project teams and communicating effectively with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead project execution and integrate security into delivered systems
- Manage project-specific cyber risk assessments
- Design, develop, and integrate cyber security features and controls into GE Vernova's OT system solutions
- Conduct hands-on vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security hardening
- Develop and execute comprehensive Security Assurance Plans and test procedures
- Apply knowledge of IEC 61850 to secure Substation Automation Systems
- Drive the selection, configuration, and deployment of security tools and technologies in an OT environment
- Stay current with emerging cyber security threats and industry regulations
- Collaborate with the Inquiry to Order team to provide expert input on cyber security requirements and solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field from an accredited university
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Operational Technology or Industrial Control Systems cyber security
Desired Characteristics
- Knowledge of recognized IT & OT Security-related standards and technologies
- Deep technical understanding of IEC 61850 standards, architecture, and protocols (MMS, GOOSE, SMV)
- Experience in securing devices and communications within an IEC 61850-based Substation or DER network
- Cyber Security Certification(s) such as CISSP, GICSP, CISM, or relevant vendor certifications
- Deep understanding of security standards such as IEC 62443 (all parts), NERC-CIP, or DNV/ABS Marine Cyber Rules
- Hands-on experience with control systems (e.g., PLCs, DCS), SCADA, and real-time operating systems
- Experience with software development and scripting for security tooling and automation
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for both technical and commercial audiences
