Senior Oracle DBA (Secret Clearance Required) - DEA
Government Agency: Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) | Location: Chantilly, VA – Hybrid (4 days onsite / 1 day remote after initial 30 days fully onsite) | Full-time position requiring an active Secret clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a DEA Public Trust clearance (processing time: 4–6 weeks, must be completed prior to start).

As a Senior Oracle DBA, you will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for the design, architecture, and administration of Oracle database management systems for the DEA. You will build efficient, scalable data structures to meet federal law enforcement requirements and contribute to technical strategy through advanced DBMS concepts.
Responsibilities
- Support Special Operations initiatives through advanced database design, relational and dimensional data modeling, and Linux-based Oracle database development.
- Architect and manage isolated data workloads using Oracle Pluggable Databases (PDBs) within Container Databases (CDBs).
- Diagnose and tune complex data analytical queries, optimizing execution plans.
- Collaborate with data architects on logical data models and translate them into optimal physical database structures for high-load environments.
- Assist with metadata management and resolve semantic conflicts from integrating disparate data sources.
- Support database decommissioning and design/partitioning of online archive data stores.
- Maintain the security posture of the Linux Oracle platform in accordance with federal DEA control sets, access controls, and automated patch management.
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant work experience as an Oracle DBA, Engineer, Developer, or Developer DBA.
- Deep, hands-on experience with Oracle 19c or newer architecture and features.
- Proven experience designing and managing applications within Oracle Pluggable Databases (PDBs).
- Extensive experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling using tools like ER/Studio or Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler.
- Expert-level knowledge of Oracle Internals, execution plans, indexing strategies, and automated performance tuning via Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Cloud Control.
- Demonstrated experience in data integration, metadata management, and analytical data stores.
- Active Secret security clearance required.
Desired Skills
- Experience with large, complex SQL query development, advanced PL/SQL (stored procedures, packages, triggers), and modern Oracle development IDEs.
