Senior Optical Reliability Engineer, OISL Reliability
Key job responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain reliability models and frameworks for optical and electrical components
Conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), fault tree analysis (FTA), and root cause analysis (RCA) for optical systems and subsystems
Define and execute accelerated life testing (ALT) and highly accelerated life testing (HALT) programs for optical components
Apply reliability growth models, Weibull analysis, and other statistical tools to predict and improve product lifetime
Collaborate with system-level engineering teams to assess and improve overall system reliability and availability
Establish reliability requirements and verification plans for new product development programs
Develop and maintain reliability documentation including test plans, reports, and specifications
Support qualification and validation activities for optical and electrical components and assemblies
Communicate reliability findings and recommendations to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with optics, opto-electronics and electronics
- Experience with reliability engineering principles, including reliability models, failure distributions, and statistical analysis
- Experience with system-level reliability concepts, including reliability block diagrams and system availability modeling
- Experience with reliability analysis tools and methodologies (e.g., Weibull++, ReliaSoft, FMEA, FTA)
- Experience with data analysis and statistical software (e.g., Python, MATLAB, JMP, or equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Experience with electrical design and optical communication systems
- Familiarity with industry reliability standards (e.g., Telcordia GR-468, MIL-HDBK-217, IEC 61709, SMS, MIL-STD-785)
- Prior experience in a hardware reliability or component engineering role within the optical communications or aerospace industry
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Pay
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
