Senior Operations Supervisor -Transportation (Supply Chain/Logistics)
Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce to ensure the execution of daily tasks and activities including driver deliveries, loading/unloading of trailers, cross docking, and customer service operations in a manner consistent with company services and cost objectives. Supervise workforce and equipment scheduling, make corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level, participate in hiring processes, and attend customer meetings as needed. Review truck runs based on account locations, volume, costs, customer requirements, and private fleet utilization. Evaluate daily orders for additional private fleet opportunities.
Schedule
Sunday - Thursday, 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM (hours vary depending on business needs).
Pay
$61,900 - $83,400 annually, plus bonus eligibility based on individual and location performance.
Responsibilities
- People:
- Communicate specific and measurable performance standards.
- Interview hourly associates and provide hiring recommendations.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance markers; provide counseling and/or recognition as needed.
- Operations:
- Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading/unloading, dispatch, and proper documentation/procedure control.
- Evaluate and recommend changes in work methods to increase productivity.
- Assist in new associate training.
- Provide relief coverage for operational duties during associate absences.
- Maintain thorough working knowledge of site operating systems to ensure compliance and correct exception resolution.
- Complete all necessary records and reports accurately and timely.
- Finance:
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures such as inventory accuracy, returns, and damages.
- Understand the relationship between decision-making and profitability.
- Manage associates' working hours and activities to minimize overtime and meet or exceed productivity targets.
- Safety:
- Ensure day-to-day management and associate activities align with the location safety strategy.
- Provide associates with communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performance.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies.
- Growth / Customer Experience:
- Understand location-specific customer goals and objectives.
- Ensure customers recognize our commitment to helping them meet their objectives.
- Identify areas that could benefit from Continuous Improvement efforts.
- Fleet/Assets:
- Plan work assignments to ensure effective use of fleet/warehouse equipment.
- Work with hourly associates to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- 2 - 4 years of related functional experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Strong written/oral communication and organizational skills.
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and work at the specified location.
