About the Role

The ideal Senior Oncology Sales Specialist requires the drive, initiative, and creativity to sell and succeed in competitive markets that revolve around complex science. This role develops account and customer-specific business plans to drive adoption and utilization of Puma’s first commercial oncology product, achieving all territory sales goals through promotion, sale, and support within a defined geographic territory covering SC and SE Georgia, including greater Augusta, Savannah, and Brunswick.

The Senior Oncology Sales Specialist represents Puma and its oncology product, educating external customers such as physicians, nurses, and other key stakeholders about the product’s benefits in relation to the applicable therapeutic area/disease state. Ideal candidates will have deep knowledge of oncology customers and accounts, as well as local market dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes robust territory business plans.
  • Meets or exceeds assigned sales goals, brand key performance indicators, and management by objectives.
  • Builds and manages long-term relationships with physicians, nurses, office practice managers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Conducts compelling discussions with key physicians and healthcare professionals in support of the approved product indication.
  • Utilizes approved resources and messaging to meet goals and targets.
  • Interacts with key stakeholders, explaining product features and benefits using persuasive sales techniques.
  • Collaborates with internal cross-functional partners, including clinical nurse educators, marketers, account managers, and medical science liaisons.
  • Plans and organizes promotional speaker programs in territory in partnership with the Speakers Bureau vendor.
  • Communicates competitive market intelligence to brand teams and management.
  • Monitors operating costs and budget, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Identifies issues and opportunities using sales reports and analytical tools to build customer strategies and tactics.
  • Leverages selling, presentation, influencing, listening, and questioning skills to present the product and understand physician, clinician, and patient needs.
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, small-company environment.
  • Understands and leverages the roles of cross-functional teams to drive strategic imperatives, including Marketing and Market Access.
  • Participates in cross-functional or project teams and supports peers, the region, or franchise as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (required).
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
  • Experience in oncology and/or rare disease.
  • Proven track record of results in a competitive market.
  • Market Access or Reimbursement experience (a plus).
  • Significant use of a personal vehicle for business purposes; reimbursement provided. Motor vehicle record checks may be conducted.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, with up to 20% out-of-area travel expected.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Launch and/or experience promoting breast cancer products.
  • Launch and/or experience promoting rare disease products.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $180,000 - $210,000 per year. Higher compensation may be available for candidates with advanced skills and/or experience. The compensation package includes a competitive base salary, quarterly incentive compensation, and a robust benefits package. Actual individual pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Schedule

Typical workdays are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5 PM, though weekend work may occasionally be required.
