About the Role

This Senior Nuclear Engineer will provide miscellaneous plant support tasks to support the operations of the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant (CPNPP) Units 1 and 2. This support is in fulfillment of the Core Design & Safety Analysis (CDSA) function outsourcing arrangement between Vistra, the operating company for CPNPP, and Westinghouse Electric Company. This support is centered on performing thermal-hydraulic engineering analysis principally for CPNPP; however, support for other nuclear power plants will also be required. You will report to the Manager of Integrated Site Engineering, Safety Analysis, Risk Applications, & Licensing. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, blending remote flexibility with regular on-site collaboration at the Dallas, TX office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex system thermal-hydraulic engineering analysis and provide technical leadership/project management in development, performance, and application of safety analysis methods based upon a broad understanding and working knowledge of PWR NSSS design and safety systems.
  • Develop work scopes and obtain approval for engineering work authorizations to support engineering work activities.
  • Maintain CPNPP qualifications for Safety Analysis Engineer, Engineering Orientation, and 10CFR50.59 Screen and Evaluation.
  • Initiate, evaluate, and disposition Condition Reports.
  • Provide technical input and written documents supporting the design, development, training, performance, and delivery of technical products and services to customers that require integration of team efforts across multifunctional groups.
  • Define, manage, and drive projects to successful completion to meet customer needs.
  • Support special requests from site as part of site engineering support. Examples include self assessments, equipment reliability support, outage emergent issue support, and calculation reviews.
  • Process vendor documents, such as Westinghouse Letters, NSALs, INs, per site requirements.
  • Apply engineering analysis (transient analysis, setpoints analysis, containment analysis) to other plants under the Westinghouse QA program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience and logic to apply advanced engineering principles and techniques to propose, direct, and integrate solutions to complex technical problems and identify approaches for the successful resolution of technical issues.
  • Less than 10% travel to domestic and international sites may be required.

Pay

The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills, is estimated to be $85,200 to $106,500 per year.
