About the role

The Wall Street Journal is seeking a high-energy news editor to work at the heart of our newsroom, focusing on world coverage. You will collaborate with our world bureaus and breaking news team to ensure we are first or fast on the stories that matter most to our readers. This role is part of a tight-knit team of senior news editors dedicated to elevating the digital experience for our readers.

You will be a fast and accurate line editor with the confidence to commission, edit, and publish—and in some instances write—the first takes of big breaking news. As the lead project manager, you will build rich digital experiences for readers of our world coverage, working with bureau chiefs and reporters across different time zones from story conception to completion. You will collaborate closely with colleagues in publishing, visuals, audio, video, design, and audience to attract and engage readers.

Additionally, you will oversee or helm our world live blogs, champion world coverage on our digital platforms, and be involved in selecting and positioning the best stories for our daily line-ups. You will write arresting headlines, craft news alerts, and be well-versed in world news, with an open mind about the best ways to tell a story using images, data, and charts. The position is based in New York and may require occasional evenings and weekends.
