About the role

Google is proud to boast a network that provides service to millions of Internet users around the world. The Network Engineering team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. As a member of the team, you have a direct impact on design and feature enhancements to keep our systems running smoothly. You also ensure that network operations are safe and efficient by monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting hardware components and responding to network connectivity issues.

Responsibilities

  • Drive innovation, create requirements, and develop designs for new networking product ideas, process improvements, technology velocity, systems performance, and cost reductions across organizational boundaries.
  • Own the quantifiable analysis of measurements or data and capacity forecast models for making Google networks more scalable, efficient, and deliver a predictable user experience.
  • Evaluate the current inefficiencies, complexities, and flaws in network systems, and propose designs, software, and processes to improve them.
  • Own resolution for software, hardware, and other network and system problems by determining and recommending appropriate solutions in partnership with other engineering teams.
  • Lead and improve the entire life cycle of a network, including inception, network design, qualification, deployment, operation, and optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with network routing protocols, design, and troubleshooting with network equipment providers.
  • Experience with planning and designing networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products, etc.).

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.

Pay

US: $150000 - $218000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
