About the Role
Guidehouse is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to design, install, configure, and document a standalone Cisco-based network in a dedicated lab environment. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience deploying complex enterprise network solutions, deep familiarity with Cisco technologies, and strong operational discipline in building secure, reliable, and fully documented networks.
Responsibilities
- Designing, installing, and configuring a standalone Cisco network tailored for a lab environment.
- Deploying and configuring: Cisco ACI fabric, Cisco SDA (Software-Defined Access) networks, Cisco wireless access points, Firewall uplinks and associated security zones.
- Implementing best practices for segmentation, access control, and network performance.
- Standing up and configuring foundational enterprise services, including DNS, DHCP, Active Directory.
- Producing detailed system documentation including network diagrams, configuration baselines, operational procedures, and test results.
- Ensuring all configurations adhere to Guidehouse quality standards and any client-specific requirements.
- Conducting functional and performance testing.
- Ensuring successful integration between network components.
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex issues across multiple layers.
- Working closely with internal stakeholders, project leads, and technical teams.
- Providing status updates, risk identification, and recommendations throughout the build.
- Interface directly with clients to define IT project requirements.
- Implement project documentation governance aligned with company and client requirements.
- Track progress of project against goals, objectives, approved budgets, approved timelines.
- Implement change management routines to assess change requests, make recommendations, secure client approvals, and issue change orders. Assesses change requests to determine impacts to scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risk.
- Demonstrate ability to identify complex project risks, lead constructability reviews, develop risk mitigation and contingency plans, and implement action plans to reduce or eliminate project risks.
- Make decisions with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, organizational policies, and business practices to achieve general results. Responsible for setting department deadlines.
- Draw upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education or advanced degree).
- US Citizenship is required.
- FIVE (5)+ years of related experience and/or training.
- An ACTIVE TOP SECRET federal security clearance.
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business/IT documents.
- Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches, and articles using distinctive style.
Preferred Skills
- CCNA, CCNP or CCIE highly preferred.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and network diagrams.
- Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations.
