About the role
The Senior Network Engineer supports the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA IOEE/IOSEE) program in Springfield, VA. This is a hybrid position, requiring weekly visits to the GDIT office or as needed.
Responsibilities
- Support network engineering design and implementation of technology refreshes.
- Develop requirements from inception to conclusion, working under general supervision.
- Manage assigned projects and tasks, providing regular status updates to contract leadership and the customer.
- Coordinate with the government customer to create a Technology Assessment Plan (TAP).
- Prepare After Action Reports (AAR) documenting the approach, results, recommendations, and rationale.
- Identify new and emerging network capabilities and develop product evaluation and selection criteria.
- Develop system evaluation methods and procedures.
- Produce formal documentation for executive briefings.
- Ensure interoperability between DLA WAN and DISN network equipment and services.
- Plan and track implementation tasks.
- Create necessary supporting configuration artifacts such as network maps, detailed designs, test plans, operations readiness test reports, device configurations, and maintenance processes and procedures.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 5+ years of related experience.
- Certifications: Current IAT Level III, CCNP-E, and CCSA certifications required.
- Network engineering experience in unclassified and classified environments.
- Familiarity with standard LAN/WAN protocols, BGP, MPLS, and LDP in a service provider environment.
- Experience with network design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with device configuration (multi-vendor environment).
- Experience with wired, wireless, voice, and video technologies.
- Ability to manage multiple assigned projects and report status and implementation plans.
Qualifications
- Security clearance level: Active Secret with favorable Tier 5 investigation.
- US Citizenship Required.
