Senior Network Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, deployment, and optimization of enterprise network modernization efforts.
• Design and implement secure, scalable, and highly available wired and wireless network architectures.
• Support modernization initiatives involving campus, data center, WAN, and remote site connectivity.
• Develop and maintain network design documentation, implementation plans, test procedures, and technical artifacts.
• Perform network assessments, gap analyses, and technical evaluations of existing infrastructure.
• Engineer and integrate routing, switching, security, and network services solutions.
• Support network migration and cutover activities with minimal operational impact.
• Troubleshoot complex network performance and interoperability issues across multi-vendor environments.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles and secure network segmentation.
• Participate in architecture reviews and provide technical recommendations for modernization roadmaps.
• Support automation and orchestration efforts using infrastructure-as-code and scripting methodologies.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership during project execution.
• Coordinate with vendors, program stakeholders, and operational teams throughout project lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Must currently hold U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering or architecture roles.
• High School diploma or associate degree with 10+ years performing as a Manager in DoD supporting large, complex networks.
• Strong experience with: Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), Enterprise switching technologies, VLANs, VRFs, QoS, multicast, and high-availability protocols, Network security fundamentals and segmentation, WAN and remote connectivity solutions.
• Experience implementing and troubleshooting Cisco or equivalent enterprise networking platforms.
• Experience with network monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting tools.
• Able to support implementation, testing, and operational transition activities.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
• DoD 8140 IAT II Baseline Certification: CompTIA Security+ CE or SSCP.
• CCNA desired experience with Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technologies and architectures.
• Experience with enterprise wired network modernization initiatives.
• Experience with enterprise wireless networking technologies, including IEEE 802.11 standards.
• Experience with broadband wireless technologies including: Point-to-Point (PtP) Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) 4G/5G connectivity solutions.
• Experience with Cisco SD-Access, EVPN/VXLAN, or similar SDN solutions.
• Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) pillars and relevant solutions.
• Experience with network automation tools such as Ansible, Python, Terraform, or APIs.
• Experience supporting hybrid cloud or edge computing environments.
• Relevant certifications such as: CCNP CWNP.
