About the role
The Network Engineer supports TOS II at Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold AFB, TN, working on critical test facility networks for real-time data acquisition and facility control systems.
Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, and manage complex network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance
- Lead the development of network system requirements, including engineering studies, reports, and design calculations
- Configure network systems to meet and exceed DoD cybersecurity requirements and protocols
- Provide critical support for test facility network systems, both in preparation for and during active operations
- Develop and execute system verification and validation test plans to ensure network integrity and performance
- Oversee the full lifecycle of network hardware and software, from evaluation and procurement to system maintenance and decommissioning
- Drive the automation of network tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
- Act as a primary point of contact for troubleshooting complex network outages and performance issues to minimize downtime
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to other engineering staff, establishing best practices and common work processes
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network architecture, including concept sketches, layouts, and material estimates
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree focusing in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- 10 years of experience in Network Engineering or 14 years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
- Advanced, practical knowledge of routing protocols, firewalls, and VPNs
- Experience with computer-aided design/computer-aided engineering (CAD/CAE) tools
- Professional certifications such as CCNA, or CCNP
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects and solve challenging analytical problems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Qualifications
- Active DoD secret or higher-level security clearance and access to DoD network and computer systems
- Current U. S. Citizenship required
