About the role

The Network Engineer supports TOS II at Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold AFB, TN, working on critical test facility networks for real-time data acquisition and facility control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and manage complex network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Lead the development of network system requirements, including engineering studies, reports, and design calculations
  • Configure network systems to meet and exceed DoD cybersecurity requirements and protocols
  • Provide critical support for test facility network systems, both in preparation for and during active operations
  • Develop and execute system verification and validation test plans to ensure network integrity and performance
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of network hardware and software, from evaluation and procurement to system maintenance and decommissioning
  • Drive the automation of network tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
  • Act as a primary point of contact for troubleshooting complex network outages and performance issues to minimize downtime
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to other engineering staff, establishing best practices and common work processes
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network architecture, including concept sketches, layouts, and material estimates

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree focusing in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • 10 years of experience in Network Engineering or 14 years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Advanced, practical knowledge of routing protocols, firewalls, and VPNs
  • Experience with computer-aided design/computer-aided engineering (CAD/CAE) tools
  • Professional certifications such as CCNA, or CCNP
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects and solve challenging analytical problems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Qualifications

  • Active DoD secret or higher-level security clearance and access to DoD network and computer systems
  • Current U. S. Citizenship required
