Senior NetSuite Functional Consultant

About the role

We are seeking a hands-on Senior NetSuite Functional Consultant to optimize an existing NetSuite environment and help the organization maximize the system’s native capabilities. This consultant will partner with stakeholders across Sales, Operations, Finance, Warehouse, and Leadership to understand business needs, improve processes, configure practical solutions, strengthen reporting, and increase user adoption. Sales and Operations will be the initial areas of focus, with broader support provided across the organization. This is a functional configuration and optimization role, not a NetSuite development engagement. The organization strongly prefers a native, configuration-first approach. Custom development and third-party applications should only be recommended when a documented business requirement cannot reasonably be addressed through standard NetSuite functionality, configuration, reporting, workflows, training, or an appropriate process change.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicates proactively, demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, and personally takes ownership of deliverables through completion.

Responsibilities

• Conduct discovery sessions with Sales, Operations, Finance, Warehouse, and Leadership to understand current processes, challenges, and priorities.
• Evaluate the existing NetSuite environment and identify opportunities for system optimization, process improvement, and increased user adoption.
• Translate business requirements into practical, scalable NetSuite solutions.
• Organize and manage a cross-functional backlog of NetSuite requests and enhancement opportunities.
• Document requirements, priorities, owners, dependencies, statuses, next steps, and target completion dates.
• Configure and optimize NetSuite functionality supporting CRM, quoting, pricing, sales orders, fulfillment, inventory, purchasing, planning, finance, and reporting.
• Build and improve Saved Searches, SuiteAnalytics Workbooks, dashboards, KPIs, reports, custom forms, fields, roles, permissions, and SuiteFlow workflows.
• Prioritize native NetSuite functionality and configuration before recommending custom development or third-party solutions.
• Determine whether business needs can be addressed through existing functionality, configuration, workflows, reporting, training, or process changes.
• Review existing customizations and identify opportunities to simplify the environment or replace custom solutions with native functionality.
• Assess integrations between NetSuite and other business systems, including warehouse, reporting, planning, and data platforms.
• Create clear functional requirements and acceptance criteria for any approved development or integration work.
• Configure, test, document, and demonstrate approved NetSuite improvements.
• Develop user documentation, process guides, and training materials.
• Provide hands-on training to improve user confidence, consistency, and system adoption.
• Communicate completed work, current priorities, obstacles, decisions, and next steps proactively.
• Escalate blockers promptly and provide clear recommendations for moving forward.
• Develop a phased roadmap for future NetSuite enhancements and operational improvements.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and ongoing NetSuite resource for business stakeholders.

Requirements

• Five or more years of hands-on NetSuite functional consulting experience.
• NetSuite post-go-live optimization, remediation, or stabilization experience.
• Experience supporting manufacturing or inventory-intensive organizations.
• Hands-on NetSuite experience supporting Sales, Operations, Finance, inventory, purchasing, warehouse operations, and order fulfillment.
• Experience with inventory planning, MRP, material planning, procurement, and long lead-time purchasing processes.
• Understanding of inventory flow through purchasing, receipt, storage, fulfillment, and shipment.
• Experience with NetSuite CRM, quoting, pricing, sales orders, fulfillment, and quote-to-cash processes.
• Experience configuring Saved Searches, SuiteAnalytics Workbooks, dashboards, KPIs, reports, SuiteFlow workflows, forms, fields, roles, and permissions.
• Experience gathering requirements and translating operational needs into configured NetSuite solutions.
• Experience evaluating budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, or business-planning requirements within NetSuite or another ERP environment.
• Experience supporting user training, documentation, change management, and system adoption.
• Experience organizing and prioritizing a cross-functional backlog of system enhancements.
• Demonstrated ability to maximize native NetSuite functionality while minimizing unnecessary custom development.
• Ability to determine when a requirement can be addressed through configuration, reporting, workflows, training, or process changes and when development is genuinely necessary.
• Experience documenting functional requirements and collaborating with developers or integration resources when needed.
• Exceptional communication, organization, responsiveness, follow-through, and a strong sense of urgency.

Preferred Experience

• Experience implementing or supporting NetSuite Planning and Budgeting or a comparable planning solution.
• Experience supporting NetSuite integrations with WMS platforms.
• Experience supporting data warehouse, reporting, or business intelligence integrations.
• Experience evaluating and implementing third-party NetSuite applications.
• Experience reviewing existing NetSuite customizations and identifying opportunities to replace them with native functionality.
• Previous experience as a hands-on Lead NetSuite Functional Consultant.
• NetSuite certifications.
