About the Role

Aleta is a true cyber company with deep operational technology (OT) cyber knowledge and experience, providing OT cyber thought leadership and technical leadership for the Department of War. The candidates best suited for these roles will be detail-oriented, show technical proficiency, exercise analytical and problem-solving skills, and be a self-starting team player. The ideal candidate will be proficient at the full software development lifecycle from requirements through deployment utilizing .NET/C# (ASP.NET Core) and secure REST APIs. Experience level is flexible - we're prioritizing the right skill set over years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop clear, technically sound software requirements: able to translate mission needs into functional and non-functional requirements, including workflows, data structures, security constraints, and integration expectations for applications using relational (SQL) or structured (XML/JSON) back-end data stores.
  • Design and implement secure application architectures: capable of producing modular, well-documented designs that support maintainability, data integrity, secure communication, and proper separation of concerns across components.
  • Build and maintain back-end data models and interfaces: skilled in creating schemas, stored procedures, queries, and data-exchange formats that support reliable, validated, and mission-aligned data operations.
  • Develop high-quality, secure code following industry standards: applies secure coding principles, performs routine code reviews, and creates documentation that supports traceability, testing, and long-term maintainability.
  • Perform structured testing throughout the development lifecycle: competent in writing and executing unit tests, integration tests, system tests, and validation scenarios against defined requirements to ensure functional accuracy and mission readiness.
  • Compliance & Standards: ensure adherence to DoD RMF requirements and other relevant cybersecurity standards, such as NIST and/or ISA, including the preparation and submission of necessary documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement: stay abreast of emerging threats and industry trends, driving continuous improvement in security practices and controls.
  • Collaboration & Communication: foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering, operations, and government agencies.

Requirements

  • Software requirements definition experience, including UI/UX.
  • Secure SDLC integration (Design through Deployment).
  • Software security assessment & testing.
  • Secure dependency and supply chain management.
  • Must be willing/able to work on-site in Huntsville.
  • US citizenship.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience relevant to defense/aerospace or industrial and test environments strongly preferred.
  • Experience assessing open source software risk.
  • Prior work for DoW.
  • Experience with DoW RMF.
