About the role
This position investigates suspected fraud, government waste, and unethical conduct of City employees and officials. It also handles complaints of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Workplace Violence.
Responsibilities
- Aids in planning, coordinating, and monitoring the results of investigations of fraud and unethical conduct by City employees.
- Handles complaints of EEO and workplace violence, reviewing them for validity based on relevant laws and policies.
- Reviews and understands multi-faceted data, including financial, payroll, and inventory spreadsheets.
- Interviews witnesses and writes depositions for cases.
- Applies investigation and surveillance techniques, collects and organizes factual information, and prepares investigative reports.
- Assists in recovering stolen property and investigating incidents involving lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Coordinates investigations with departments and outside agencies.
- Maintains files on investigations and evaluates risk factors for potential fraud and misconduct.
- Collaborates with management to prevent future incidents of illegal activity.
- Testifies in legal proceedings and appears before bodies of official authority.
- Develops and implements citywide training programs on employee fraud, waste, and abuse.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Four (4) years investigative or law enforcement experience.
- Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four (4) years investigative EEO investigations experience.
- Working knowledge of Equal Opportunity Employment laws and terminology.
- Experience with creating and delivering presentations.
