Senior Movable Bridge Engineer (Electrical)
About the Role
Jacobs is seeking a Sr. Movable Bridge Engineer with significant relevant experience in performing condition inspections and leading design teams. As a key member of our team, you’ll be responsible for movable bridge electrical design for new and rehabilitation projects, as well as analysis of existing structures to determine recommendations for rehabilitation strategies. Additionally, you will oversee and perform hands-on inspection of the bridges’ electrical equipment and systems. Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and direction on movable bridge projects.
- Commit to quality and continuous improvement through innovation and creative thinking.
- Perform existing bridge inspection, condition assessment, and develop rehabilitation strategies.
- Prepare contract drawings, technical specifications, design calculations, technical reports, and construction cost estimates.
- Develop preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians for development of contract plans.
- Serve as a technical resource to the project team and mentor young engineers.
- Develop technical reports, documents, client communication, and technical memoranda.
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET-EAC Accredited Degree); Specialization in Electrical Power Systems preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) in the U.S.
- 15+ years of experience in movable bridge Electrical Engineering.
- Substantial experience in bridge electrical design with a focus on movable structures.
- Substantial movable bridge inspection experience.
- Preferred experience designing and implementing industrial power distribution systems, instrumentation, and process control.
- Experience with electrical controls for electric motors.
- Experience with CAD and drawing software, AutoCAD, and MicroStation (preferred).
- Solid understanding of and practical experience applying the AASHTO LRFD Movable Bridge Design Specifications and AREMA Design Recommendations to transportation structures.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel for short-term assignments on an as-needed basis.
- Highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic and commitment to working as part of a team both in the office and in the field.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $160,000.00 to $235,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
