Senior Motion Planning Engineer - Trajectory Optimization

Location: Remote – US-based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $160,800 – $193,000 annually

This role will lead operational priorities where safety, quality, compliance, and execution discipline are central to success. You will collaborate with field leadership, support functions, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve accountability, service delivery, and operational consistency. The position offers the opportunity to influence operational scale, customer outcomes, and organizational performance within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize motion planning algorithms for autonomous vehicles
• Develop planning solutions using advanced techniques like convex optimization
• Incorporate vehicle dynamics into planning for safe and reliable behavior
• Create production-quality software following best practices for safety and testing
• Collaborate on software architecture for scalable autonomy systems
• Execute validation strategies in Software-in-the-Loop and Vehicle-in-the-Loop environments
• Debug and improve software by analyzing system performance and issues

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 5+ years industry experience; Master's degree with 3+ years; PhD with 1+ year
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ development in Linux environments
• Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicle systems, or other complex real-time software
• Expertise in motion planning and trajectory optimization for autonomous systems
• Solid understanding of vehicle dynamics and planning system architecture
• Strong foundation in linear algebra and numerical optimization
