Senior Mitigation Technician

About the Role

The Senior Mitigation Technician assesses damaged properties to determine salvageable items, performs cleaning, removes and replaces damaged materials, and sanitizes restored sites. This role requires physical capability, a strong understanding of safety gear, and the ability to supervise laborers on large mitigation and remediation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Run large mitigation/remediation projects valued at $100k+.
  • Perform water mitigation, fire/smoke cleanup, mold remediation, and demolition services in accordance with company procedures and IICRC industry standards under the direction of the Mitigation Manager.
  • Assess damaged areas and assist in determining the scope of work, including identifying salvageable and non-salvageable materials.
  • Set up, monitor, and remove drying equipment including air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, and moisture monitoring devices.
  • Perform extraction, debris removal, demolition, cleaning, sanitizing, and contents handling activities to stabilize and restore properties.
  • Document job progress through photos, moisture readings, sketches, and daily job notes using company-approved systems and software.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding project status, job expectations, and daily activities while maintaining high customer service standards.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard communication, and safe equipment operation practices.
  • Drive and operate company vehicles, trailers, and restoration equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in a clean, organized, and operational condition.
  • Be reachable by phone during on-call periods but otherwise free to use personal time unless contacted for duty.
  • Assist with containment setup, negative air systems, and site protection measures to prevent cross-contamination during mitigation activities.
  • Load, unload, inventory, and transport equipment, materials, and contents between job sites, warehouses, and storage facilities.
  • Support warehouse organization, equipment maintenance, and facility upkeep as needed.
  • Participate in required training, certification programs, safety meetings, and continuing education activities.
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, subcontractors, and other departments to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to quality standards.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business operations and customer needs.

Requirements

  • 2 or more IICRC Restoration Certifications (WRT, ASD, FSRT, etc.), required.
  • 3 or more years of experience as a Restoration Technician, required.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Valid Driver’s license in good standing without restrictions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment, materials, and debris weighing up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and other challenging environments.
  • Ability to work around water, mold, fire, smoke, and other property damage conditions while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to operate mitigation equipment and safely handle tools and materials used in restoration work.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and job-site environments.
  • Ability to travel to customer locations and respond to emergency service calls as needed.
