About the role
We are searching for a Part-Time Temporary Senior Mining Engineer who possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of mining engineering to complete challenging assignments. This role will leverage cutting-edge technologies, advanced analytics, and the expertise of world-class scientists and engineers to create meaningful change.
Responsibilities
- Perform project tasks in the public and private sector.
- Participate in functions involving contact with client representatives.
- Work and coordinate with project team personnel.
- Perform technical functions on projects involving mining, oil and gas, and environmental aspects in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Conduct site investigations, evaluate reclamation techniques (including innovative technologies), manage mine pools, and perform environmental studies and designs.
- Review or manage field assessments.
- Support other project programs such as construction management, watershed restoration, and alternative energy projects.
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of technical work in major or complex projects.
- Prepare and review environmental documents.
- Provide technical direction and guidance to CADD operators, designers, technicians, and field personnel.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mining Engineering or a related area.
- Minimum of 20 years of related experience.
- Knowledge of geology, rock mechanics, hydrology, and geotechnical engineering is a plus.
- Ability to work with little direction to meet project goals and develop detailed plans from conceptual direction.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel); knowledge of computer-based engineering design software is desirable.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Effective communication skills, both orally and in written form.
- Registered Professional Engineer.
- MSHA 40-hour training and current 8-hour refresher training are preferred.
