Senior Mine Engineer

Position Summary Reporting to the Vice President, Mining, the Senior Mine Engineer is responsible for mine planning, design, and optimization activities to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining operations. This role plays a key part in driving the strategic direction of the mining operations, and ensuring alignment between operational execution and strategic mine objectives. Key Responsibilities Develop and support the execution of mine designs and plans for the restart of mining operationsDesign and optimize open pit and/or underground mine layouts, including haul roads, ramps, stopes, and sequencingEnsure all mine plans comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental guidelinesCollaborate closely with exploration, operations/mining contractors, permitting, and other site teams to align plans and ensure successful executionSupport and manage engineering consultants on studies as requiredMonitor mine performance and reconcile actual results against plan; identify variances and implement improvementsConduct economic evaluations, cost analysis, and productivity assessmentsMentor and supervise junior mine engineers and technical staffSupport budgeting, forecasting, and life-of-mine planning activities and capital projectsImplement and maintain mine planning software and systemsDevelop mine planning processes and proceduresContribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence programs Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline (Master’s degree is an asset)Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain in Nevada preferredMinimum 10 years of mining experience, with strong exposure to planning and operationsExperience in open pit and underground operationsProficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik)Strong understanding of drill & blast, geotechnical considerations, and mine economicsKnowledge of U.S. mining regulations (MSHA standards) Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesLeadership and mentoring skillsExcellent communication and cross-functional collaborationAbility to work in a fast-paced, remote site environmentHigh attention to detail with a focus on safety and efficiencyStrategic thinking with hands-on operational awareness Working Conditions Site-based role at a mining operation in NevadaExposure to typical mining environments (dust, noise, varying weather conditions) What We Offer Competitive salaryComprehensive benefits package401(k)Career development and advancement opportunities Pay Range & Compensation Package Compensation details will be discussed during the interview process.
