Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Scientific Content (Visual and Written)
    • Collaborating with medical writers (and/or other medical directors, editorial, and creative team members as applicable), providing client-ready deliverables, and ensuring the work of others meets quality standards and industry guidelines
    • Delegating work and providing clear and actionable feedback
    • Overseeing content development on a wide range of complex projects across multiple accounts/therapeutic areas
    • Demonstrating proficiency in reviewing scientific content
    • Guiding the decision-making process in data analysis
  • Strategic Perspective and Guidance
    • Offering proactive strategic recommendations to the team
    • Participating in strategic planning meetings with clients and offering tactical recommendations based on these activities
    • Demonstrating the knowledge of product scientific messaging within the competitive space and scientific tactics
    • Demonstrating a working knowledge of pharmaceutical industry standards and compliance
    • Partnering with Client Services in strategic planning efforts, and account/issues management
  • Client Engagement and Influence
    • Building, maintaining, and leading scientific relationships/communications with physicians, and guiding others to develop this skill
    • Effectively moderating/facilitating client sessions
    • Leading client interactions concerning strategic or tactical planning processes with the client
  • Internal Team Engagement and Influence
    • Overseeing short-term and long-term medical resourcing needs; participating in resourcing discussions with AVP/VP/SVP team members; escalating the need for additional resources; resolving resource needs
    • Partnering closely with Client Service team members using a collaborative approach that optimizes communication, efficiency, team culture, and profitability
    • Mentoring and training Medical Team members; serving as a role model
    • Serving in a leadership role for internal training initiatives
  • Fiscal Responsibility
    • Providing feedback on scientific aspects of budget development
    • Managing >$2M in revenue to maintain or expand revenue across accounts

    Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

    • MD, PharmD, or PhD degree
    • 5+ years of experience with a medical communications agency, education company, pharmaceutical company, or clinical equivalent
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
    • Experience in developing medical and marketing concepts through critical analysis of data, distilling complex technical information for a variety of medical audiences, and medical editing
    • Understanding of industry guidelines and standards governing the dissemination of scientific data
    • Ability to meet deadlines while working on multiple, parallel projects
    • Advanced knowledge of program features used in professional content development, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
    • Strong leadership and decision-making experience, skills, and competencies
    • Strong knowledge of clinical development processes and life cycle management for pharmaceutical products
    • Forward-thinking mindset that embraces change and strives to enhance the reach and impact of our work

    Travel

    • Up to 20% potential travel
