Senior Medical Director
About the role
The Senior Medical Director oversees the accuracy and relevance of content created for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and device industry clients, as well as plays a central role in developing healthcare professional marketing strategies and tactics.
Responsibilities
-
Leads high-profile and scientifically complex therapeutic areas that shapes a product and provides insights which help to drive brand strategy and corresponding programming.

Therapeutic expert for assigned brand(s) and responsible for the quality, scientific and medical accuracy and integrity of scientific content.

Quickly learns and understands complex mechanism of disease, pathways, trial design methodologies, statistical analyses; translates and disseminates accordingly.

Proficient at medical writing and summarization of medical data and scientific concepts supporting message development for HCP and DTC audiences.
-
Edits creative, marketing, planning, innovations, and business strategy & analysis teams about clients’ products and the diseases they treat.

Supports new business pitch content and strategies, including presenting agency’s professional marketing insights at new business presentations.

Maintains thorough knowledge of key competitors (strengths, weaknesses, positioning, performance).

Proactively and independently conducts research on the product and/or therapeutic category, stays abreast of the medical literature related to client’s brands.

Proficient with medical strategy initiatives (competitive set analysis, defining clinical value proposition, informing brand positioning, etc.).

Generates actionable insights and perspectives on disease-related topics, treatment categories, and healthcare professional attitudes and behaviors.

Supervises medical writers on his/her accounts.
Qualifications
-
Doctoral level (PharmD, PhD) degree in healthcare; clinical experience beyond graduate training preferred.

Healthcare agency experience (preferred) or pharmaceutical, biotech, or device company experience (at least 5-7 years).

Familiarity with US pharmaceutical marketing regulations.

Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry medical-legal review processes.
-
Teaching and mentoring experience.

Ability to read and interpret the medical literature.
-
Facility with Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.
-
Familiarity with AI tools preferred.
-
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
-
Proactive and showing initiative to learn and lead projects.
-
Able to scale from detail-oriented tasks to higher-level strategic tasks.
-
HIV or infectious disease healthcare advertising experience is preferred.
-
Collaborative, professional, and strong communication skills preferred.

This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
