About the role

AWS is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Mechanical Products and Services team. This role is based in Seattle, Washington or Herndon, Virginia. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience, along with 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Define and design liquid cooling equipment and related infrastructure
  • Collaborate with internal and external ecosystem partners to design and develop new data center product solutions
  • Support field engineering and data center operation teams for performing root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
  • Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center products
  • Maintain and develop technical design procedures associated with piping and pipe support analysis activities
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers, senior management and partner teams
  • Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts and ideas
  • Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating ownership
  • Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate mechanical and associated sub components
  • Provide product design support to other team members
  • Write functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering or Architectural License
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools and design methodologies

Benefits

Amazon offers a competitive compensation package, including sign-on bonuses and RSUs. The base salary range for this position is $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 annually. Additional benefits include:
