About the role

AECOM is actively seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Mechanical Process Engineer to work as a mechanical process design engineer on large, complex, multi-discipline, high-profile water and wastewater treatment and pumping facilities for both traditional and design-build projects throughout the Greater New York Area.

Responsibilities

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical lead or advisor for team
  • Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior level engineer and design/drafting technical staff
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others
  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects
  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings
  • Prepares technical specification sections
  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
  • Serve as design manager and lead project tasks, in collaboration with project managers and clients, in the planning, design, permitting and construction of wastewater and/or reclaimed water facilities including but not limited to treatment facilities and conveyance systems as well as creating and/or overseeing the preparation of construction documents (drawings and specifications) and permit applications, as well as handling construction.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS plus eight years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience in the water/wastewater industry
  • Professional Engineering License (PE), New Jersey or New York preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Experience managing a team and development of junior staff
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Ability to meet quality, schedule and budget expectations
  • Ability to apply passion and enthusiasm for design in a collaborative and progressive team-oriented work environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
