Senior Mechanical Power Engineer
About the role
The power generation market is growing and evolving, driven by strong capacity demand signals. HDR's national Power Generation team is poised for significant growth and is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the development, contracting, and implementation of natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects.
Responsibilities
- Leadership of the project mechanical team
- Coordination with other engineering disciplines
- Monitoring and communication of project status
- Providing mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects on both a technical and contractual level
Requirements
- Significant experience with utility-scale power generation systems and equipment
- Proven ability to plan, schedule, and lead design projects
- Experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation
- Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm
- Minimum 10 years of experience, ideally in the fossil power industry with a blend of design and owner’s engineer projects
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Willingness to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs
- Proficiency in working within an established schedule and budget
Preferred Qualifications
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation design
- Gas turbine, steam turbine and/or large reciprocating engine experience or subject matter expertise
- Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation
- Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm desired
- Minimum 10 years of experience, ideally in the fossil power industry with a blend of design and owner’s engineer projects
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Willingness to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs
- Proficiency in working within an established schedule and budget

Pay
The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. The targeted salary range for this position (based on experience and location) is $108,661 - $204,250.
