About the role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Designer at Reese Hackman, you will combine technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and leadership skills to design high-performing HVAC systems. You will shape design direction, mentor emerging engineers, and ensure technical excellence across all phases of project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead project teams through all phases of design, including mechanical system development, project scheduling, budgeting, and cost estimation.
  • Maintain existing client relationships and develop new ones through project management and business development initiatives.
  • Design, develop, and implement mechanical (HVAC) systems for commercial and institutional buildings.
  • Provide quality control oversight of mechanical system designs for various project types.
  • Mentor staff members and cultivate strategies for their personal and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems within overall building design.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot existing HVAC systems for retrofits or upgrades, providing innovative solutions to improve performance.
  • Ensure all work adheres to Reese Hackman standards, applicable building codes (ASHRAE, ASPE, NFPA, etc.), and client requirements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in HVAC design for commercial and institutional facilities.
  • Architectural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree (ABET-accredited) preferred.
  • Project Management experience leading design teams.
  • Experience developing system design concepts and implementing them through all phases of design.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Revit.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure.
