About the role

Ramboll in the Americas seeks a Senior Mechanical-HVAC Engineer for its Binghamton, NY office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, particularly in HVAC systems, and will be expected to work across various areas of mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Performing design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline, with a focus on HVAC.
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details associated with mechanical engineering projects.
  • Developing conceptual designs and cost estimates for early stages of the project life cycle.
  • Creating design drawings utilizing Revit 3D design software.
  • Conducting or participating in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
  • Assessing and designing building ventilation systems based on requirements for heat removal in industrial spaces and maintaining indoor air quality.
  • Conducting spreadsheet analysis to assess the energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs).
  • Utilizing building modeling software (HAP or Trane Trace) to determine envelope heat gains/losses and assess savings potentials of ECMs.
  • Specifying mechanical equipment.
  • Designing plumbing and building utility piping systems.
  • Summarizing engineering results in written reports and/or presentations that are cohesive and of the highest quality.
  • Visiting job sites as required for projects involving upfit of existing systems.
  • Adhering to the policies and standards set forth in the Ramboll’s Project Execution Manual.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees by adhering to Ramboll’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or greater.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems.
  • Licensed professional engineer, strongly preferred.
  • Ability to foster a creative engineering environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both in written and verbal.
  • Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit design software, preferred.
