About the role

Gilbert Mechanical, a Legence Company, seeks a Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our team. With over 40 years of experience, we provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and fire protection services in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and accurate cost estimates for new construction, tenant improvements, or maintenance projects.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
  • Work collaboratively with other peer estimators, project managers, engineers, detailers, and vendors.
  • Manage project management team’s expectations through both written and verbal communications.
  • Use sheet metal and piping/plumbing estimating software, currently Quote Express, to perform project takeoffs.
  • Affirm accuracy of all components of estimating workbook spreadsheets, including verifying correct labor hours, labor rates, internal cost allocations, assumptions, material, transportation, and other services not performed by the company.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Attend job walks, bid reviews, and meetings as needed.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience

  • 10 years of experience in the mechanical construction industry.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management preferred.
  • Understanding and knowledge of mechanical systems, including sheet metal layout, piping/plumbing system design, equipment selection, and knowledge of local mechanical codes.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work and produce a deliverable to a deadline.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Writing clarification letters for estimates performed.
  • Competency with computerized estimating and digital takeoff software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Bluebeam.
  • Experience estimating both design build and plan/spec projects.

Pay

The Internal Rate of Return (IROR) for this role is $105k-$145k. This role is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus, which is determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and is not guaranteed.
