About the role
This role is an onsite position in Melbourne, Florida, requiring a U.S. Person. It involves leading a team responsible for the mechanical design, development, qualification, production support, and sustainment of mechanical solutions for Communication/Navigation/Surveillance airborne avionics products.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team through fast-paced technical and program challenges, balancing technical rigor, scheduling commitments, product safety, and business priorities while developing talent and building a high-performing engineering team.
- Drive technical execution across new product development, product improvements, customer programs, and sustainment activities.
- Support qualification planning and testing, resolve production and field issues, ensure compliance with applicable aerospace standards, and partner closely with systems, electrical, software, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, program management, and customers.
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering discipline and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
- Experience with avionics products, LRU packaging, electronics enclosures, rack-mounted equipment, antennas/sensors, cockpit or flight deck equipment, or aircraft-installed hardware.
- Strong technical leadership in mechanical and electronic packaging including: mechanical support for circuit card designs, structural design, thermal management, materials, environmental qualification, and producibility for safety-critical aerospace applications.
Qualifications
- U.S. Person required - Job requires access to ITAR or 600/500-series EAR information or hardware (directly or indirectly).
- Understanding of DO-254 is preferred, especially when mechanical design supports airborne electronic hardware, circuit card assemblies, or custom electronic hardware packaging.
- Familiarity with mechanical CAD design (especially Siemens NX) and analysis tools, including thermal analysis, vibration analysis, structural analysis.
- Familiarity with materials and manufacturing processes such as machined parts, sheet metal, castings, injection molding, die casting, fasteners, coatings, bonding, and electronics assembly packaging.

Pay
The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD.
