Pay

This role is paid on an hourly basis with a range of $40–$58 and is eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable laws. The expected approximate annualized compensation range is $85,000–$120,000.

About the role

As a Sr Mechanical Engineering Designer supporting our Architecture and Engineering business unit, you will design and draft mechanical engineering projects under the guidance of Mechanical Engineers/Project Managers. The scope of design will include HVAC, plumbing/piping, refrigeration, fire protection, and fuel systems. As part of a multi-disciplined firm, you will coordinate with Site/Civil Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Structural Engineers, Architects, and Construction Project Managers. You will produce mechanical engineering construction documents while adhering to client requirements, code requirements, and site adjustments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design tasks and reports under the direction of senior staff
  • Conduct site feasibility research and site visit investigations, and generate reports/recommendations based on findings
  • Assist in maintaining task budgets
  • Coordinate and assist with addendums, RFIs, and change orders
  • Assist in coordinating the work of a multi-disciplined team throughout the design development and contract document phases of a project
  • Assist senior staff with the project approval process
  • Other related responsibilities as necessary to fulfill the objectives of this role

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • 4+ years of experience with general building mechanical design production, preferably with commercial projects such as retail, restaurants, grocery, financial, and/or convenience stores
  • EIT preferred, not required
  • Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office required
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to identify practical uses for company-approved AI tools to improve team processes, support better decisions, and increase efficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to review AI-generated content for accuracy, protect confidential information, and remain responsible for the final work product

Schedule

This is a remote or hybrid (1 or 2 days a week in the office) position based out of the following Core States Group offices: Kent, Puyallup, or Bellevue, WA. We're open to a remote candidate living in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Nevada, or Idaho.
