About the role

The Mechanical Engineer will develop a new augmented reality vision system combining multi-spectral sensors, compute, thermal management, and ballistic protection for soldiers in the Army. The role involves detailed mechanical design, ergonomic considerations, structural and thermal analysis, and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate new augmented reality vision systems for military use
  • Design wearable systems that meet stringent SWAP-C requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate multi-spectral sensors and compute components
  • Perform structural and thermal analyses to optimize designs
  • Manage complex parts and assemblies, producing high-quality engineering drawings
  • Ensure designs are comfortable and usable for extended wear in tactical environments
  • Work within a team to prototype and test new systems

Qualifications & Critical Competencies

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in an engineering field
  • 5+ years of professional Mechanical Engineering experience
  • CAD skills (any platform)
  • Experience with military specifications and wearable systems
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to perform detailed mechanical design for traditional and additive manufacturing
  • Competencies in ergonomics and human factors
  • Experience with thermal and environmental considerations
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as molding, laminating, and machining
  • Experience with NX/Teamcenter and FEA extensions
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and 3D printing
  • Eligible for a U.S. Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Consumer electronics packaging and design experience
  • Experience with design for cameras, displays, and SoC integration
  • Ruggedization experience
  • Experience with military qualification programs and MIL-STD requirements
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and 3D printed assets

Pay

$146,000—$170,000 USD
