Senior Mechanical Engineer - Thermal Infrastructure

Responsibilities

  • Prepare mechanical engineering calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates to meet project requirements.
  • Design thermal distribution systems, campus master planning, district, and central utility plant design, building conversion design, and condition assessments.
  • Provide technical guidance and quality oversight, including code review, of all project work.
  • Train and develop staff in technical areas.
  • Aid in establishing and improving standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications.
  • Act as the Engineer of Record, providing 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions - technical and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with all disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
  • Interface with code officials and contractors.

Requirements

  • Experience in the design of institutional, educational, healthcare, laboratory and military projects is desired.
  • Proven history of solid design work, meeting project deadlines and budgets, and working well in a team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer’s license. Existing licensure in NC and/or VA is preferred.
  • 15+ years of technical experience in the design of thermal distribution systems, central utility plants, and/or building mechanical systems.
  • Experience in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and/or drafting is a plus.
  • Experience in pipe stress modeling is a plus.
  • Self-motivated and well organized.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and drafting.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
