Senior Mechanical Engineer/Designer

Responsibilities
- Design HVAC systems including ductwork, piping, and equipment sizing/selection
- Design and support direct expansion (DX) equipment, VRV/VRF air conditioning systems, and central chilled water and heating water plants
- Review heating and cooling load calculations and apply results to system layouts
- Contribute to new construction and renovation/remodel projects
- Perform and/or review design calculations, equipment selection, and layout of HVAC equipment
- Produce clear, coordinated mechanical documentation in a Revit-first BIM workflow (plans, schedules, details, diagrams)
- Review designs and support specification editing
- Use or support energy/performance documentation such as COMcheck/REScheck and sustainability requirements (e.g., LEED criteria), when applicable
- Coverage and support construction administration including submittal reviews, RFI responses, site visits, and field reports
- Support coordination discussions with Owners, Contractors, Architects, and Code Authorities with a working understanding of cross-discipline requirements
- Mentor and support the development of designers and early-career engineers through plan reviews, guidance, and knowledge-sharing
- Help maintain quality and consistency across mechanical deliverables, including coordination checks and documentation standards
Requirements
- Strong working proficiency in Revit (mechanical design within a BIM workflow)
- Solid understanding of HVAC fundamentals, applicable codes, and constructability considerations
- Experience leading HVAC design for multi-discipline building projects and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related engineering discipline)
Preferred
- 10+ years of HVAC/mechanical building systems design experience (consulting engineering preferred)
- Familiarity with Trane TRACE and/or Carrier HAP programs
- Central plant design exposure (gas heat/heating water and chilled water systems)
- Experience with building energy performance software and compliance documentation (COMcheck/REScheck)
- Familiarity with green building certification criteria (e.g., LEED)
- EIT or P.E. license (or clear path toward licensure)
