Senior Mechanical Engineer

My client is a leading global designer and manufacturer of high-performance lifting and pulling devices for military and civilian aircraft, including rescue hoists, winches, and cargo hooks.

About the Role

Plan, develop, and conduct engineering and product development projects of significant importance to the organization. Manage all phases of product development, including requirements development, project planning, concept development, detailed design, prototyping, testing, transition to production, and aftermarket support. Provide project planning, reporting, management, and technical implementation throughout the development lifecycle. Serve as a senior technical resource responsible for project success across financial, technical, and timeline objectives.

• Develop system architectures for new products and integrated systems, including advanced AC, DC, and hydraulic hoist and winch systems, cargo hooks, and related accessories.
• Translate customer needs into equipment and system specifications, conceptual designs, and detailed mechanical designs.
• Apply mechanical engineering principles to analyze forces, moments, stresses, and overall system performance throughout the development process.
• Perform mechanical and systems engineering activities, including 3D solid modeling, computer-based simulations, FEA, rapid prototyping, testing, and technical documentation.
• Identify and incorporate advanced materials, material processing techniques, coatings, and surface treatments into next-generation products.
• Develop and execute project plans to ensure compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Provide project management support from concept through completion for both in-house and outsourced engineering projects.

Requirements

• Experience developing products within an ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality environment.
• Strong experience with design configuration management and product development processes.
• Experience developing and fielding complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, preferably within the aerospace or defense industries.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced degrees preferred.
• Approximately 10 years of experience in mechanical and/or systems engineering.
• Strong leadership, teamwork, communication, organizational, project management, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills.
• Project management experience, including familiarity with financial and budget-tracking tools.
