Major Responsibilities
- Prepare and check design and procurement documents including but not limited to P&IDs, supporting calculations, data sheets, engineering specifications, and material requisitions
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria to support engineering design decisions
- Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
- Captures, organizes, and coordinates mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups
- Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals
- Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards
- Assists project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
- Prepares mechanical engineering reports for clients as required
- Mentors and assists more junior mechanical team members
- Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
Qualifications
- Level 1: Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Mechanical (or related) Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience.
- Level 2: Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Mechanical (or related) Engineering and a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional work experience.
- U.S. Professional Engineering License in Mechanical Engineering (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
- Experience in Piping and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) development, chilled water system design, pipe sizing calculations, and equipment specification and procurement development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities.
- Experience with developing custom equipment packages, including skid mounted systems and specialty items, such as security doors.
- Experience working on DOD government projects and with the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).
- Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA-1, or AS9100D.
- Possess active security clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance.
