Senior Mechanical Designer - US
About the role
Stantec is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to join our Energy and Resources team in the Arizona office. This position is open to all locations in the United States and reports to the Energy and Resources Piping and Mechanical Design Team Lead. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial and/or mining environments, proficiency in Autodesk software, and a strong understanding of BIM360/Revit.
Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate mechanical models and electronic documents on both large and small-scale projects within the global Mining Sector.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and mining specialists to develop design concepts, create models, and coordinate designs to consider existing conditions and other discipline requirements.
- Convey electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural requirements to the team through traditional 2D paper deliverables and/or 3D models (Revit, Plant 3D, Inventor, Navisworks, Autodesk Forma, etc).
- Assist other designers with project deliverables and provide material estimates to support Procurement and Estimating efforts.
- Lead model and drawing review meetings both internally with Stantec’s team and externally with clients.
Requirements
Experience in an industrial and/or mining environment is required. Experience with design of Mining facilities and infrastructure is a plus. Proficient to Advanced knowledge of Autodesk software including AutoCAD, REVIT, Plant 3D, Inventor and Navisworks (2021 or higher) is necessary. Experience in AVEVA is a plus. Ability to work with point clouds as part of the design process. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to perform field walks, which may include climbing ladders and walking/standing for extended periods of time. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Proficient in math as it pertains to design work.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Industrial Engineering design packages.
- Associates degree or certificate of completion from an accredited drafting program preferred (will consider experience in lieu of education).
- REVIT education or experience are required; certifications are a plus.
Skills
- Autodesk software proficiency (AutoCAD, REVIT, Plant 3D, Inventor, Navisworks, Autodesk Forma).
- BIM360/Revit experience.
- Ability to work with point clouds.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform field walks.
