Duties and Responsibilities
- Applies technical knowledge to design, investigate and resolve assigned design problems utilizing standard engineering and design standards.
- Utilizes 3D computer aided design (CAD) software for design solutions and drawings.
- Utilizes a thorough understanding of configuration management of large assemblies.
- Creates documentation and presents engineering changes to the change control board.
- Performs tolerance analysis and demonstrates thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Performs hands-on investigation of problems and validation of solutions.
- Creates and presents design review documentation to engineering management.
- Interacts with designers and engineers across multiple disciplines.
- May direct the activities of lower-level designers.
Requirements
- Typically requires an Associates degree or a certificate from a recognized organization indicating completion of training in ProEngineer/CREO, NX, CATIA or IDEAS design software plus thirteen or more years of progressive experience utilizing CAD software with at least five of those years spent utilizing ProEngineer/CREO, NX, CATIA, IDEAS or related engineering design software.
- Additional education may be substituted in lieu of work experience.
- Must have a complete and in-depth understanding of engineering design concepts and principles and possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly, applying them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
- Must have aptitude and demonstrated design experience utilizing 3D CAD engineering software for design and drawing creation. (CREO or NX preferred).
- Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and have mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases, and determine the appropriate approach at the task level or project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
- Must have excellent communication, documentation, presentation, computer, interpersonal and hands-on skills.
- Must have a working knowledge and application of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Able to obtain and maintain DOD Security Clearance is required.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
