Senior Materials Manager

About the role

QISG is hiring a Senior Materials Manager to support a $250M, 286MW power generation EPC project. This is a full-time, permanent QISG position with opportunities to transition to future projects after completion. Initial 2-month training will be in Eagle Mountain, UT, followed by a long-term project assignment near Midland, TX. Must be willing to work on the project site; travel and lodging expenses are covered by QISG.

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages industry best material management practices and resources with client
• Works with customer-approved local vendors to quickly obtain materials for expedited requests
• Works directly with procurement to ensure project materials adhere to construction and delivery schedules; communicates with client, project team, and vendors to obtain precise material on time
• Performs material take-offs and collaborates with customer, engineering, project management, and construction to determine necessary materials for project completion
• Manages lead times and material availability by identifying construction need dates, order-by dates, and material decision points to include in project schedules, including forecasting and reservation based on construction schedule
• Directly interfaces and oversees vendor shipments to ensure logistics and timely delivery of construction materials
• Continuously monitors changes to construction material requirements to ensure appropriate requisitions and/or revisions are efficiently addressed
• Prepares Materials Management Execution Plan as needed
• Manages all aspects of receiving and issuing materials, equipment, tools, and consumables to ensure effective, timely, and accurate receipt and issue for construction
• Establishes layout of warehouse and/or lay-down yard using industry best practices to safely maximize space and streamline operations
• Ensures all inventory is handled and stored safely according to requirements and engineering specifications
• Manages and executes receiving, count, and inspection of materials delivered to construction/warehouse/lay-down yard; addresses any discrepancies (QA/QC, overage, shortage, damage, etc.)
• Obtains and resolves material-related questions or problems by coordinating between project manager, engineering, suppliers, fabricators, construction, project controls, or other management
• Plans, manages, and executes phase bundling, structure staging, and kitting to streamline materials for construction
• Performs on-site material audits to ensure accuracy of inventory
• Directly manages, controls, and performs data input for project materials within the inventory management system (ClearSpider) for real-time and accurate inventory reporting
• Directs, coordinates, and supervises the off-loading and storage of materials as received or issued to construction
• Performs project closeout for materials, purchase orders, and other contract requirements, including obtaining proper disposition instruction of excess materials
• Acts as liaison between project manager, customer, supplier, and construction management to resolve material-related issues
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures
• Performs special projects and completes other duties as assigned or requested

Requirements

• High school diploma (or equivalent) and 4+ years of relevant experience
• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience (preferred)
• Relevant career experience in the construction industry, with exposure to EPC projects in the electric power delivery sector (preferred)
