About the Role

Responsible for providing a wide variety of support services to promote the company's product portfolio and develop and support the Marketing Department to increase company revenue and profit. This role includes leadership responsibilities with less experienced marketers and carrier relations, participation in setting the strategic direction of the department, and representing the company professionally at outside events.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the company’s product portfolio at a “proficient” level to qualify for the Senior Marketing Consultant position within product areas, including cross-selling, educating, and promoting all company products and services.
  • Operate at an expert level with the technology required for high productivity, including software, hardware, tools, websites, and web-based programs.
  • Develop assigned marketing plans and provide service assistance to agents; handle 50–100 telephone calls per day with agencies and agents on all aspects of assigned products.
  • Recruit, train, service, and assist agents to enable them to produce at the highest level possible.
  • Assist agents with issues including recruit kits for carriers, training, contracting, certification, and transactional issues such as electronic signature, telephonic signatures, and app-by-email.
  • Communicate regularly with agents regarding product information, rate changes, and key agent benefits.
  • Monitor compliance with program reporting rules and sales requirements.
  • Provide technical support training, sales and marketing coaching, and identify and cultivate top producers.
  • Identify problem agents and recruit agents for special opportunities, such as new lead sources and alternative enrollment methods (e-commerce, e-signature, tele-app, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain a Team Roster of agents/agencies with regular contact and support; manage the Team Roster and excel in managing a book of business.
  • Manage complex relationships, support, educate, and establish credibility with top producers; assist in training the field and internal employees on compliance and suitability requirements.
  • Represent the company at carrier meetings, teleconferences, and contact selected carrier reps to resolve problem situations.
  • Serve as a resource for newer marketers in mastering the role and lead discussions at Department marketing meetings.
  • Update and maintain system information in accordance with policies and procedures; manage task lists and have working knowledge of reports (e.g., Who Quit Writing, Debit Balances, MGA reports).
  • Conduct agent webinars, product introductions, special projects, and prepare information for internal marketing meetings.
  • Assist with training new employees and travel on behalf of the company to attend meetings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in the General Insurance Industry or related field (financial services, marketing, web-based business, business-to-business customer service, or call center).
  • Valid Life/Health Insurance License within 90 days of hire.

Skills

  • Enhanced knowledge of insurance services industries and specific current knowledge of assigned product lines.
  • Fully proficient in SMS products, technology, and services.
  • Highly experienced in working effectively with inbound and outbound callers/customers.
  • Proficient at negotiating and problem-solving to resolve internal and external conflicts.
  • Proven skill in initiating change to improve department processes and achieve business goals.
  • Proficient in the use of office equipment (computer, fax, printer, telephone system, etc.).
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; leads by example in documentation and Contact Manager usage.
  • Experience maintaining effective working relationships with customers, employees, and the general public.
  • Maintains confidentiality of business strategy, carrier data, employee personal information, and nondisclosure agreements.
  • Excels in project management and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, MS Outlook, and conducting effective webinars.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and document information such as contracts, conversations, and commitments in the Contact Manager.
  • Ability to engage with a wide range of personalities in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; proven ability to persuade.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail while remaining flexible and responsive to urgent requests.
  • Proven ability to read, write, and communicate in English effectively and articulately.
  • Ability to maintain all company policies, including confidentiality and safety policies.
  • Proven ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, and make and execute decisions.
  • Self-starter motivated to accomplish goals and tasks within a given time frame.
