About the Role

This position focuses on optimizing, creating, and monitoring internal processes that impact workflow, scrap, on-time deliveries, and part cost. Responsibilities include injection molding process development and maintenance, tooling design, and implementation of LEAN manufacturing principles.

  • Regularly stand for 8 to 10 hours, walk, sit, use hands to handle tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk, and hear.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: 20/20 vision for assessing cosmetic requirements, close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate injection molding machines, including setup, teardown, production starts/stops, and purging.
  • Operate auxiliary equipment on the production floor, such as mold heaters, dryers, DME hot runner controls, vacuum verification units, core mules, and automation (pickers, robots, conveyors, and chutes).
  • Develop and revise injection molding processes for new and existing projects.
  • Maintain controlled documents, processes, and procedures for the Molding Department.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and internal departments as a subject matter expert in injection molding.
  • Facilitate Design of Experiments (D.O.E.) and window studies to identify key processing factors affecting part quality.
  • Advise on the purchase of new equipment and consumables, including ROI analysis for the Molding department.
  • Lead and participate in "5S Lean" tasks and projects.
  • Interpret engineering prints for molding equipment and production parts.
  • Advise on the design and construction of new tooling and fixtures, proactively identifying project-specific KPIs that impact scrap, part cost, and labor.
  • Identify and correct injection molding reject conditions.
  • Operate a forklift and generate work orders for mold or equipment repair/modification.
  • Manage inventory disposition and coordinate tooling trials for T0, T1, and production sampling.
  • Record time spent on tasks accurately.
  • Coordinate and facilitate training on new equipment and injection molding processes.
  • Use hand tools safely and maintain a clean working space.
  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision while adhering to safety protocols and PPE requirements.
