EngineeringFull-time

Fauna is seeking a hands-on Senior Manufacturing Engineer to concept, design, and scale assembly operations at a prototyping facility. You’ll design processes, commission equipment, and scale best practices in a dynamic environment where the next problem is never the same as the last.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product design teams to incorporate DFM/DFA considerations, advocate for the simplest and most reliable assembly processes, and iterate rapidly as the product design evolves.
  • Develop and prove out assembly methods—joining, fastening, adhesive bonding, press-fits, human-assisted automation, and robotic assembly—for complex electromechanical products.
  • Drive PFMEA considerations upstream in product development; champion the principle that the best part/process is no part/process.
  • Design manufacturing lines from concept through launch: requirements, sizing/balancing/timing, material flow, vendor selection, equipment specification, automation strategy, installation, and commissioning.
  • Define line requirements including layout, work content, cycle times, rates, and headcount.
  • Support detailed design of assembly equipment and fixturing; develop equipment specifications; manage RFQ, vendor selection, FAT, and deployment.
  • Engage with equipment OEMs, tooling suppliers, automation integrators, and key production partners to drive projects from concept through production launch.
  • Drive production readiness and operational performance: safety, quality, throughput, and scrap reduction.
  • Identify opportunities to densify, reduce non-value-add operations, and drive significant improvements from one build iteration to the next.
  • Develop and standardize assembly processes, control plans, maintenance strategies, and operational documentation.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and data-driven problem-solving to drive continuous improvement.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence, safety, and operational discipline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of direct manufacturing engineering experience in high-volume assembly environments for complex electromechanical products.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and ramp-up of integrated assembly operations.
  • Strong knowledge of assembly methods including mechanical joining, fastening, adhesive bonding, press-fits, human-assisted automation, and robotic assembly.
  • Track record of driving down manufacturing costs while maintaining or improving product quality.
  • Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt preferred).
  • Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams in fast-paced, high-ambiguity environments.
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
  • Experience with the project management of technical projects.

About The Team

Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, is building capable, safe, and genuinely delightful robots for everyday life. Our goal is to make robots people actually want to live and interact with in everyday human spaces. We believe that future won’t arrive until building for robotics becomes far more accessible. Today, too much effort is spent reinventing the fundamentals. We’re changing that by developing tightly integrated hardware and software systems that make it faster, safer, and more intuitive to create real-world robotic products.

Our work spans the full stack: mechanical design, control systems, dynamic modeling, and intelligent software. The focus is not just functionality, but experience. We’re building robots that feel responsive, expressive, and genuinely useful. At Fauna, you’ll work at the frontier of this space, helping define how robots move, manipulate, and interact with people in natural environments.
