A Day In The Life

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards while promoting a strong safety-first culture on the shop floor.
  • Provide technical leadership and day-to-day oversight of manufacturing processes on the shop floor, including CNC and manual machining, fabrication equipment, presses, robots, core machines, furnaces, and supplier located molding machines.
  • Be the senior-level troubleshooter for complex and recurring process issues, leading root cause analysis and implementing robust corrective and preventive actions to minimize downtime and production losses.
  • Design and implement fixtures to assist with manufacturing.
  • Lead and champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on scrap reduction, productivity gains, cycle time reduction, yield improvement, and overall cost optimization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, maintenance, quality, supply chain, and design engineering teams to design, refine, and standardize manufacturing processes.
  • Design and maintain product test systems.
  • SAP – updating and / or creating BOMs and Routers.
  • Analyze process data, KPIs, and production metrics to identify trends, gaps, and risks; develop and execute data-driven action plans to improve performance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for process capability, control plans, and process validation activities, ensuring alignment with quality and customer requirements.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide technical training to engineers, technicians, and shop floor personnel to elevate process knowledge, problem-solving skills, and operational discipline.
  • Lead the evaluation, justification, and implementation of new equipment, automation, tooling, and manufacturing technologies, including feasibility studies, capital justifications, and ROI analyses.
  • Drive standardization of work instructions, process documentation, and best practices across applicable manufacturing areas.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation to track process performance and improvement initiatives.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (7+ yrs) in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably in a hands-on, shop floor-based capacity.
  • Deep technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, including CNC and manual machining, fabrication equipment, presses, core machines, furnaces, and molding machines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues.
  • SAP experience creating BOMs and Routers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor software and manufacturing execution systems (MES) is a plus.
