Key Responsibilities
- Design & Development Engineer manufacturing processes, machinery, support equipment, tooling, and procedures.
- Create efficient plant layouts to optimize material flow and space utilization.
- Lead machine construction, component manufacturing, integration, installation, and startup.
- Manage tasks to meet project timelines and budgets.
- Investigate and resolve equipment issues using data analysis and root cause methodologies.
- Research and select automation components and material handling systems.
- Partner with Fastener Engineering to support new product designs and equipment modifications.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and legal standards.
- Maintain timely reporting, participate in meetings, and manage projects.
- Develop and improve safe work methods and manufacturing techniques.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- 7-10+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing.
- Demonstrated experience & levels of responsibility in designing and troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge and application of engineering and technology skills with a focus on problem-solving, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal/external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks CADD software; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally periodically.
- Willingness to commute daily to other ITW Construction Chicagoland locations and Northern Illinois machine builders/OEMs dependent on project assignments.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, and capital projects is a plus.
