Senior Managing Consultant, Air Quality Compliance and Permitting
About the role
The Senior Managing Consultant, Air Quality Compliance and Permitting, is a full-time position within Ramboll’s Environment & Health Division. Located in Arlington, VA, USA, this role involves providing technical and business leadership in air quality permitting and compliance, managing complex projects, and developing deliverables to meet client needs.
Responsibilities
- Facilitating preparation of air quality permit applications and environmental impact reports
- Managing complex projects and serving as the technical lead overseeing Consultant and Senior Consultant level staff
- Managing client relationships and the development of deliverables to meet client needs in an efficient manner
- Critically reviewing and interpreting local, state, and federal environmental regulations, permitting, compiling, and drafting regulatory applicability determinations, and communicating findings, to co-workers, clients, and regulatory agencies
- Identifying and pursuing business development opportunities
- Conducting site visits
Requirements
- 10+ years of related experience, largely in air quality permitting and compliance
- B.S. or M.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering or other relevant science / engineering discipline
- Demonstrated business development capabilities
- Ability to externally manage client and regulatory agency relationships and internally manage staff and competing project priorities
- Ability to train and utilize junior consulting staff, and experience leading a team on projects

- Capable of working cooperatively with agencies, organizations, and individuals to guide decision-making
- Experience in project and client management

Pay
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $143,000 to $179,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
