Senior Manager, Strategic Portfolio Management

About the Role

Our client, a leading national credit union, is building a new Strategic Portfolio Management and Benefits Realization function within its Enterprise PMO. This hire will help shape it from the ground up, working directly with EPMO leadership to bring structure to how the organization prioritizes capital investments and tracks whether those investments actually deliver value.

Responsibilities

• Help determine which projects deliver the most value, and build a scoring model to guide prioritization
• Track outcomes after project completion (6-month, 1-year, and 3-year checkpoints) to confirm value was actually delivered
• Own recurring OKR and KPI reporting, including taking over an existing OKR program
• Build the enterprise's first standardized portfolio management framework and minimum guardrails
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to bring visibility into cross-portfolio dependencies and resource demands
• Support executive-level portfolio reviews with clear, data-driven narratives

Requirements

• 10+ years in program/portfolio management, strategy, or a related field, including 2+ years leading a team
• 2+ years in Financial Services or another regulated industry
• Experience building frameworks (benefits realization, KPI/OKR, portfolio scoring) from scratch and driving adoption
• Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and general finance fluency
• A confident, collaborative style; comfortable holding your ground without creating friction, and able to drive change in incremental steps

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent a plus
• Nice to have: Jira/Atlassian experience, familiarity with Clarity or similar PPM tools, and Tableau/BI experience
