About the role
As Senior Manager, Engineering for Protect, you will lead a critical engineering area within Pindrop’s fraud detection platform. This role combines hands-on technical credibility with strong people leadership. You will help your team build and operate scalable, high-performance services that power real-time fraud detection, while partnering closely with Product, Research, and peer engineering leaders to deliver meaningful customer outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy, execution, and day-to-day engineering operations for a key Protect domain, with a focus on reliability, delivery quality, and technical health.
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, building a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and strong technical execution.
- Stay close to the architecture and implementation details, moving comfortably between planning, technical design, and operational problem-solving when needed.
- Partner with Product, Research, SRE, and adjacent engineering teams to prioritize work, remove bottlenecks, and deliver scalable solutions in a multi-cloud environment.
- Use data, metrics, and technical judgment to identify systemic issues, improve team effectiveness, and raise the bar on execution.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in software, platform, or cloud engineering, including direct responsibility for team leadership and delivery outcomes.
- Strong hands-on experience building and operating distributed systems in AWS and/or GCP, with familiarity in Kubernetes, CI/CD, and cloud-native engineering practices.
- Proven ability to lead engineers through execution, improve engineering processes, and deliver reliable systems in production.
- Strong technical grounding in modern backend engineering, observability, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Collaborative and culture-driven, and you know how to energize a team while partnering effectively across functions.
- Resilient, calm under pressure, and comfortable making sound decisions in ambiguous or high-stakes situations.
- An influential communicator who can translate technical priorities and tradeoffs into clear business impact for stakeholders.
Skills
- Experience in fraud prevention, authentication, voice biometrics, trust and safety, or related security products.
- Prior hands-on experience as a software, infrastructure, or platform engineer before moving into management.
- Experience working in high-growth SaaS environments where speed, scale, and cross-functional execution all matter.
What’s in it for you
- A high-impact opportunity to lead meaningful Protect engineering work at the center of Pindrop’s mission.
- Your team’s work will directly influence how effectively we detect fraud in real time, how reliably our platform scales, and how quickly we can bring new capabilities to market.
- Strong visibility, real ownership, and the chance to shape both the team and the systems behind one of Pindrop’s most important product areas.
